Classes & Workshops

Luna teaches classes & workshops at  Pepper Street Arts Centre in Magill and at her home studio in Coromandel Valley. The schedule is regularly added to & updated throughout the year. All workshops require a minimum of four students to run & because spaces are limited, a 25% deposit is requested to secure your booking. Private lessons are also available. 2015 Workshops

Introduction to Mosaics
3 weeks: Sundays, 27th September, 11th , 18th October 2015, 11 am – 4.30 pm

This comprehensive beginners’ course will cover all the basic skills and information to enable novices to make their first mosaic. We will focus on working with ceramic tile but other materials will be introduced and explored. This course will give you the foundation to go on and make more advanced mosaics. Extensive take home notes and most materials included; it is recommended that you purchase your own tile nippers if you want to work on your mosaic at home between classes. Bookings, including a deposit, are required by Friday 18th September.

Andamento & Opus – Making Better Mosaics
4 weeks: Sundays, 25th October – 15h November 2015, 1 – 5 pm

This is a follow-up to the beginners’ course for people who want to explore more advanced mosaic-making techniques. Students will choose and supply their own projects to work on and 3-dimensional objects may be included. There will be more focus on the design process and choosing the right materials for your project, plus a more in-depth look at cutting, shaping and laying techniques. Bookings, including a deposit, are required by Friday 17th October.

Creating Your Own Substrate
2 weeks: Sunday 29th November & Sunday 6th December 2015, 11 am – 5 pm

Once you have mastered the art of cutting and laying tesserae to create visually pleasing mosaics, what’s next? For those who want to push it to the next level, the answer is to create your own unique substrate (base) which you can then choose to mosaic, paint or embellish in other ways. There are many possibilities to explore and this advanced course will take you through several options. We will focus purely on creating the substrate, which you can mosaic in your own time at home.
